Brrrrr......goes Mmmmmmmmm

It's freezing cold outside, but tonight we are having Avocado shrimp soup La Fuentes style:
Saute onion, a stalk of celery, a carrot chopped, I added (a packet of my frozen cilantro mixed with jalapeno pepper and onion from the garden)

Fresh cilantro and a squirt of lime will do,
toss in the unshelled shrimp to cook to a luscious pink, add a box of broth, chicken or veggie, and a large can of crushed or diced tomatoes.
Simmer-finish with avocado pieces or slices, and top with sour cream.

total YUM...it's a warm shrimp cocktail in the freezing winter.

Cabin Fever

I am not the only one who suffers from cabin fever in the long winter months, when Don K of Prairie View Woodworking
is not tackling a big project he is making delightful things like this jewelry box and rustic birch mirror.

When winter keeps me inside I begin to focus on being healthy...an apple a day should do it.

The dreaded days of being indoors, always lead to trouble. When it began to snow the other day, I went to the hardware store and invested a few bucks to give our bedroom a facelift. Today I would say it is complete, except for spray painting the ceiling fan bronze which I will have to do on a warmer day.

What a beautiful Day, the kind of day to do a DIY project.
So here goes, the first half: thanks to my friend Marie of Woodland Tiles I have some materials to work with. My ugly metal table will be an art piece by tomorrow.. (I hope)
1. step one, a thin coat of tile cement on the surface.
2. step two a thicker layer applied with a toothed tile trowel
3. place the tiles down before the cement sets, you have about 45 minutes.
4. apply tile cement to the edge of the table.
5. add the finish edge trim
Tomorrow we grout!
